  • Tomorrow we will begin an Opinion unit in Writing titled, “Writing Reviews.” In order to launch this unit successfully I need you to put together a small collection that fits neatly in a shoe box or gallon size bag. (examples: matchbox cars, ponies, lego minifigures, dinosaurs, beanie babies, shells, gemstones/rocks) You do not need more than 6 items in your collection. In this unit, you will review your collection and make choices about which item in your collection is the best. As a writer, you will learn to defend these judgements. This part of the unit is an introduction to writing reviews. Later in the unit we will move on to writing reviews about anything and everything from toys, to restaurants, to video games, to kid friendly places to play.  You will need your collection chosen and ready for tomorrow.

  • Today is the feast day of St. Joseph.  He was the foster father of Jesus on Earth.  We know that he was a carpenter.  He probably taught Jesus how to build when he was young.  We can learn from St. Joseph in that he was a very hard worker.  He said yes to God and took care of Jesus.  How are you a hard worker?  Use your black composition notebook to write about how you are a hard worker.  Your Sentence starters are:  Today is the feast day of St. Joseph.  He was a harder worker.  I am a hard worker when...Remember to write details.  You can imagine me saying "Tell me more..."  Remember to draw a detailed picture.

Today is your choice when you would like to do your IReady math and reading lessons.  Find times in your learning today to complete your 20 minutes of math and reading lessons.

Parents-I will need evidence of learning everyday for our E-Learning today.  For our first day, all I ask is that you simply take a picture of at least one activity that your child completed today and email it to me with a simple message about the activity.  The subject of the email can simply be the subject such as "Reading, Math etc.  Another option for today's evidence of learning is to take a picture of your child working at home today and email the picture.
