Read pp 465-471 in the text and complete the Edpuzzle on habeas corpus (it's about 3 1/2 minutes) Then complete the note sheet attached. This is not due until Tuesday morning so break it into chunks, if needed. I would prefer you not have homework over the long weekend so you may want to do half today and half tomorrow.

Complete the Edpuzzle | African Americans in the Civil War. Then watch the short video on the Battle at Gettysburg, one of the bloodiest battles of the war. Finally, watch the link about Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. Although Lincoln spoke for only about two minutes, it is considered one of the greatest and most powerful speeches in history.

Re-read pp 463-464 to get a clear understanding of what led up to and the reasoning behind the Emancipation Proclamation. No need to take notes. Watch and complete the EdPuzzle. The video is approx. 4-5 minutes.

Using the link from yesterday, continue watching the video. You should begin at approx. minute 14, start of 4 "The Plot Against The President". It will take approx. 34 minutes. Answer the two questions attached on the Google doc and submit.

Watch the video parts 1"Discord, Clash and Conflict"; 2 "North vs. South" and 3 "A Nation Goes to War". This should take about 13 minutes and much of it is review of what we have been learning about the start of the war thus far. At minute 13:14 there will be two questions asked. Please answer these two questions on the Google doc attached, in complete sentences, and turn in. Be sure to use info from the video to help. The second part of the video will be watched tomorrow.

We can't get together for our usual "whiteboard quiz" hook, so I am making a fun quiz you can take at home to get you engaged in some of the interesting facts about the war. This will be graded for completion and participation. No need to look up answers or worry if you get most wrong! Have fun and enjoy the learning!

If possible, sign in or use the link below to create a student account on Discovery Ed. This should be free and simple to do. Be sure to use your school email. Then take the virtual tour of Ft. Sumter, the site of the event which started the Civil War. If the tour does not show up automatically, you can just search for it. Let me know if you have any problems but please don't worry if it doesn't work. I am just trying new things to enhance learning and some may not work right away. We are learning along the way!

Next, read the positions of Jefferson Davis and Abraham Lincoln on pp 444 and 445 of your text. Please be sure that you use complete sentences, and explain yourself clearly using support from the text.

Complete this activity if Discovery Ed does not work properly. The video is less than four minutes and has only 5 questions so it should be a quick review.

Finally, create a way to reach others to encourage them to participate in the census. You may create a meme using the Google draw template below, an online poster using Canva (sign up required but DO NOT PAY FOR ANYTHING), a "commercial" on YouTube (keep it private and share with me) or any other creative way you can think of. Have fun with it but remember, we are encouraging others to participate, not making of fun of the process. I will post these on classroom for others to see.

Census Day 2020 is Wednesday April 1st, so this week we will be completing activities to help us better understand the Census, how it works and why we need it. For today, do ONLY what is given here. We will work on other pages in other ways throughout the week. Please read pages 1 and 2, "Get Counted". Highlight or underline any key information. You may wish to print the packet as I was unable to create an editable copy through Google docs. Next, complete the vocabulary foldable on page 3. We will review these terms together during a Zoom call on Tuesday.

Complete the interactive below. Once you click link, you will need to click "Launch" on picture. Work through pages 1-9, answering questions as you go and saving them (see tabs at top). If you have any difficulty, you can also jot notes on Google Doc. This is my first experience with this interactive. I went through it myself and it appears to work well and cover the necessary material, but if you have issues, don't stress. Message me and we will figure it out!

All students should be in contact with their group to confirm completion of the project, including the assessment. All films and assessment need to be shared with me by this afternoon so I can upload the videos to our classroom.

Students with iPad responsibility- Once film is complete, save to the iPad gallery then share to you Google Drive using your school email. Once uploaded to drive, please view film to ensure it is running properly. From there, share film with me. This may take many minutes so be patient.
