  • ABC I Like Me!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7tjTMgYFLc

Language Activity:

  • Go on a scavenger hunt in your house.  Use a bag to put five items that begin with your favorite letter. Bring them to the table. Take each item one at a time, say the name of the item and the letter sound it makes. You may have to model for your child the first time. Do all five items.
  • Next write your favorite letter on a piece of paper.  If your child wants to decorate the letter, they can decorate anyway they like using anything you have in the house (stickers, cereal, dot paints, pasta etc.). They can practice writing, tracing, copying, the names of items they found.  Only do as much as your child's interest and ability allows.
  • Sample picture:

Gross Motor Activity:

  • Parents or caregivers may want or need to help with this activity to save time. Write ten letters (upper and lowercase) on 10 small pieces of paper (if you have the plastic or foam letters those would work) and put them in a small bag.  Have the child close their eyes, reach into the bag and take out one letter.  Ask them what the letter is and what sound it makes. Then they should try to use their body to make the letter.  Have them try to do all ten or as many as works for them.  Just have some fun!

Alphabet Song Activity:

  • End our day with a song.
  • Sesame Street Alphabet song:

Please know if you or your children need a break from all of the e-learning, take one!  Those plans are there until the end of school. You can pick and choose how much you can do and when is the best time to do the activities. All I ask is that you continue to check in with me, even if just to say”Hi” so I can turn in attendance. Did Pete get sad when his buttons fell off? What button did Pete have left when all of the buttons on his jacket fell off? Good opportunity to check on recall skills.

Next week we'll be learning about Earth Day.  We will be asking that you help your child construct a creation next week using recyclable items to share . Just something fun, it does not have to be anything elaborate.  You may want to start collecting the items over the weekend.

Have a nice weekend!

Sandy

Here is an easy recipe for playdough:

2 ½  cups of flour

½   cup of salt

1 Tablespoon of cream of tartar

3  Tablespoons of vegetable or canola oil

30 drops of food coloring

2  cups of boiling water

Mix dry ingredients first.  Add food coloring to boiling water, then add oil.  Pour boiling water mixture into dry ingredients. Mix and blend until cool enough to handle.  The children like the feel when it is still slightly warm. If still too sticky to handle just put a dusting on flour on the table or work area and work in making it less sticky.  Save in an airtight container or ziplock bag. Play dough will last for a while. I keep it in the refrigerator.

Dear Parents,

What a beautiful weekend, warmer weather and the sunshine!  I hope you were able to enjoy the sunshine and breathe in the fresh air.  Please continue to stay safe and take care of yourselves.

Here are the lessons for E-Learning on Monday:

We will continue our two videos “Hello! Hello! Can you clap your hands? And How’s the Weather?” to begin our day.  Also, have your child be a “Weather Watcher” and tell you what the weather looks like outside or go outside to feel the temperature outside. When their job is “Weather Watcher” at school we sing the following song:

Weather Watcher, Weather Watcher,

What do you see?  What do you see?

Tell us what the weather is.  Tell us what the weather is.

Won’t you please?  Won’t you please?

Try to see if the kids will sing it with you.

Hello! Hello! Can you clap your hands?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fN1Cyr0ZK9M

How’s the Weather?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rD6FRDd9Hew

Listen to the story Ten Magic Butterflies.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBi_RoXKVo0

Take a motor break for 5-10 minutes depending on the child's interest and ability. Using a scarf, handkerchief or bandana, have them practice self toss and catch skills. Have them watch the scarf with their eyes and move their bodies to let the scarf land in their hands.  Think of other things to do with the scarf (make circles with the scarf, make it go high and low, turn around with the scarf) any ideas you have.

Project to go with Ten Magic Butterflies:

Making flowers and butterflies out of coffee filters or circles cut out of paper towels. Two of our favorite symbols of Easter are the flower and the butterfly.  A beautiful living flower is always a sign of new growth, new life, and new beginnings. The butterfly is also a symbol of new life. Just as the beautiful butterfly emerges from a dark cocoon, we renew our hearts and become filled with newness of life.  Jesus fills our hearts with joy! Directions follow on the next page.

Directions for making flowers and butterflies.

                                                                           COFFEE FILTER ART

Make a flower and a butterfly.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

White coffee filters or 8 inch paper towel circle

Washable Markers

Watercolor Paints

Food Coloring

Craft materials

  1. Using Washable Markers:

Decorate a coffee filter or paper towel with washable markers

Place on wax paper

Spray water on the decorated circle and watch the colors

spread

  1. Using Food Coloring

Place coffee filter or towel circle on wax paper

Spray a little water on it

Put 2/3 drops food coloring in small cup with 1 Tablespoon water

Use dropper or small spoon to put drops on circle

Or

Squeeze drops of food coloring directly from small bottle onto

filter or towel circle

  1. Using Watercolor Paints

Put coffee filter or paper towel circle on tray

Paint with water colors

Your colorful circle can be made into a flower, a

butterfly, suncatcher, or….what else do you think it can be?

To make the flower, after the filter dries use a rubber band, pipe cleaner or something that will secure the Flower.  Pinch together the middle of the filter to form the flower and secure. Glue onto a paper and draw a stem. Next take the other filter, find the center of the filter squish together, place a large paper clip, clothes pin or hair pin in the center forming a wing on each side.

While waiting for the filters to dry introduce the letter “Uu”.  Have the child write the letter “Uu” on a piece of paper or you write it and have them trace over it. Have them use their finger and write the letter in the air, down around and up. Write it under their chin. Have them pretend to open an umbrella and say u...u...u...up. Write Luisa and Luke’s names for them and have them point or circle the “Uu”.  Help them think of four words that have the letter “Uu” (umbrella, unicorn, up, under).

Thank you for all of your help!

Due:

Assignment

Here it is day five of E-Learning.  I really miss you and your smiling faces.

Please try to have the children stand so that they can do the movements with the video.  Thanks!

Hello!Hello! Song

Next do  How’s The Weather video. If the weather is as good as they say, go outside and check for the weather.  While walking around review all of the items you see that remind us it is spring. Gross motor have the children do ten jumping jacks or jump up and down ten times. After each set of jumping, have them take three deep breaths (have children hold up three fingers and pretend it’s a flower, have the children pretend to smell the flower), have the children hold up index finger and pretend it is a candle and try to blow it out). Repeat three times.

March 30, 2020 Lesson Plan
Starting the day can be fun! Just play this short video. You can play it several times when first introducing it to the children.  We will use this song to start our day with E-Learning everyday.
Hello! Hello! Can You Clap Your Hands Song video

Next, we will be using this video after our Hello Song when starting the day.  After watching the video, have the child draw a picture of the weather.  It can be as simple as a sun or one with more details depending on the child's ability or interest.
How's The Weather?

Have the children look out the window and look for signs of spring. If the weather is cooperating take a walk outside in the the yard and look for signs of spring.  You may need to give them some examples (leaves on the trees, grass turning green, birds, rain, warmer weather).  Tell them to keep those ideas in their brain.  Time for a story!  Now that spring is officially here, have the children listen to this book When Spring Comes.  After, have them draw a picture of something they saw outside on their spring watch or something they saw in the book.  Parents or caregivers can can label what the child says about their picture.  Display in your house to remind us spring is here.
When Spring Comes

Assignment

Our e-Learning lesson for today is the letter "Ss" which is the letter of the week. First write the letter "Ss" on a piece of paper.  Ask your child if they know the name of the letter.  If they need help no big deal just say the name "S" or give some hints.  Have your child weave their hand like a snake in an "S" shape saying SSSssss.  Next take an old sock and make it into a sock puppet letting the child draw the eyes with a marker and have them practice saying SSSssss while maneuvering the puppet.  Have your child search around the house, while you are giving them clues, to find items beginning or have the letter "S" in them.  They can wear the sock puppet on their hand to help them search for items (examples: shoe, soap, shirt, snake, sugar, steps, sink, sister, shower) or words they come up with themselves. You only need three or four depending on interest.  Write the items names on a piece of paper and have the child point to the letter "Ss" in the item name. These are the names of the children who have the letter "Ss" in their first name: Addison, Emerson, Jackson, Luisa and Stella.  Write them on a piece of paper and have your child point to or circle the "Ss". They could draw a picture of one of the items also. Have the child write a big letter "S" or if needed you can write the "S" and they trace over.  Lastly if you have shaving cream put some on a tray or on the table top.  Let the child spread the shaving cream and use their index finger to write the letter "S". You might need to demonstrate for them. They can practice making other letters or letters in their name.  A little messy but fun!  If you do not have shaving cream and have playdough the children can practice rolling snakes and make them into the letter "S".  There again you might need to demonstrate the rolling snakes and forming them into the letter "S". Do the activities you are able to do I know it is a crazy time.   Let me know how things are going. Thanks again for all of your cooperation in e-Learning.

Assignment

Click on the link  below. Watch the video and draw a picture of your favorite shapes. Go on a shape hunt in your house and see how many different shapes you can find.  Parent or care giver write down the names of shapes and students try  drawing those shapes.  If students are not able to draw the shape parent or care giver can draw and student trace over repeating the name of shape.  You can play a guessing game.  Parent or care giver secretly draws the shape on paper, chalk board, or white board turns it around and ask student to name the shape or student can draw the shape and parent or care giver can guess.  Have fun!
