Design

Design is referred to as the link between innovation and creativity. As a Candidate* in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP), HFCA  incorporates a design component in our curriculum that focuses on further developing students' problem-solving and critical thinking skills through practical and creative design tasks.

This component encourages students to explore the design cycle, which includes stages such as inquiry and analysis, developing ideas, creating solutions, and evaluating outcomes. By engaging in these activities, students learn to approach problems methodically, think innovatively, and reflect on their processes and results.

The MYP design component incorporates IB's Approaches to Learning and equips students with the skills necessary to “find out” (research), “explore” (communicate, collaborate, critically/creatively think), and “take action."

Developing the essential skills of analytical thinking, creativity, and technical proficiency prepares HFCA students for STEM careers in the future.
